If you're thinking about making the switch then read on.  In his March 20, 2007 article at Wired News Leander Kahney describes how people's perception of Macs is changing.  Kahney states:

"Recently, people have been saying the strangest things about Apple and the Mac. Everything is topsy-turvy. Pundits aren't trotting out the old conventional wisdoms any more. They're saying odd stuff, like Macs are good for business; Macs can save money; and that Apple's stock -- at $90 a share -- is a bargain."

Kahney continues by explaining a "cultural shift" and what people are now saying about Macs:

  • Macs will save you money
  • Macs are good for business
  • Less is more
  • Closed is good

Each reason is discussed citing examples and links to other articles on the web.  I particularly liked the last reason as it discussed Apple's approach to creating both the hardware and software in what Kahney calls a "closed system".  His explanation parallels my June 5, 2006 article Apple's End-To-End Model Leads to Innovation and User Experience.
