CNET has published the 2008 "Back-to-School Gift Guide", a resource for parents and students in the market for new gadgets.  For those interested in a desktop or laptop, the Apple iMac and Apple MacBook have been given the Editors' top pick in their respective categories.
Apple iMac - Top Desktop
The iMac is given the top score, 8.5 out of a possible 10.  Here's what CNET has to say about Apple's all in one desktop computer:

A slight bump to the specifications for the same price in addition to a much appreciated option to upgrade the graphics means the 24-inch iMac keeps the Editors' Choice it earned last year when the brushed-aluminum-and-glass design was first introduced.

Apple MacBook - Top laptop
The MacBook is given the top score, 8.3 out of a possible 10.  Here's what CNET has to say about the Apple MacBook:

Apple has been content to issue minor periodic hardware updates to the 13-inch MacBook, but the modest performance gains and new Leopard OS keep it in our top tier of laptop recommendations.

Apple iPod touch - top MP3 player
the iPod touch was given the top slot for MP3 players with a score of 8.7 out of a possible 10.  CNET's review states:

The iPod Touch is a beautiful product, inside and out, but prepare yourself for sticker shock
