All Things Digital has reported that Apple will be conducting a media event on Wednesday, September 9th in San Francisco. The venue is most likely the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts a setting where Apple has previously announced iPod and iTunes updates.
Kindle is Amazon's Wireless Reading Device that works in conjunction with the Kindle Store to provide more than 240,000 books, top newspapers, magazines, and blogs. The new 'Kindle for iPhone application' from Amazon allows iPhone and iPod touch owners the ability to read Kindle books using a simple, easy-to-use interface.
If you haven't heard by now, Apple will be holding their "Let's Rock" media event today which kicks off at 10 a.m. Pacific (1 p.m. Eastern). For the past several years, Apple has held media events in early September to unveil new iPods and iTunes versions to prepare customers for the end-of-year shopping season. This year, we also expect significant price cuts across the iPod lineup.
Apple has released and update that upgrades iTunes to version 6.0.5. Apple states the following:
"...allows you to sync your Nike + iPod workout data to nikeplus.com, where you can easily track your progress, set training goals, challenge others, and much more. Visit the Nike Sport Music area on the iTunes Music Store to download workout mixes, Athlete Inspiration playlists, Nike podcasts, and more.
News is just hitting the wires that Apple and Softbank will work together (or are currently working together) to develop an iPod based cell phone.
My view is that a single device that can work as both a cell phone and an iPod will drive iPod adoption because people will prefer to carry around a single device. Greater iPod adoption will drive more sales at the iTunes Music Store and it should add more momentum to the "Halo Effect". All in all, increased Mac adoption should result.
Check back for updates.
Some of the 16 series include: "24," "Prison Break", "The Shield", "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia", "Stacked", "Black White", "30 Days", "Buffy the Vampire Slayer", "Firefly", "Lost in Space", "Pinks", "Unique Whips", and "First Hand."
TVWeek reports that customers of Apple's iTunes have downloaded 4 million Disney movies and television shows. Disney CEO Bob Iger stated the following at his Monday keynote speech at the TelecomNext show in Las Vegas:
"That data point is indicative of the biggest change in the TV business"
Apple Computer responsed to the effort by French lawmakers aimed at forcing the company to open iPods and Tunes to work with competing digital media products. Did Apple's statement hint at a Movie download service?
