In just under an hour Apple will be kicking off the 2009 Apple Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) at 10:00 a.m. PST.  A team of Apple executives, led by Apple's senior vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing, Philip Schiller will deliver the keynote.  Apple will highlight two new operating systems Mac OS X Snow Leopard and iPhone OS 3.0.

Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) will take place from June 8th through 12th in the Moscone West convention center in San Francisco, California.  Apple will be conducting three tracks at the 5-day event: iPhone, Mac, and IT.

Kindle is Amazon's Wireless Reading Device that works in conjunction with the Kindle Store to provide more than 240,000 books, top newspapers, magazines, and blogs.  The new 'Kindle for iPhone application' from Amazon allows iPhone and iPod touch owners the ability to read Kindle books using a simple, easy-to-use interface.

Enterprise software vendor Oracle has developed two key applications for the Apple iPhone that have been unveiled at the company's annual Oracle World conference.  Oracle will be delivering these as well as future iPhone applications via Apple's iTunes App Store.

If you haven't heard by now, Apple will be holding their "Let's Rock" media event today which kicks off at 10 a.m. Pacific (1 p.m. Eastern).  For the past several years, Apple has held media events in early September to unveil new iPods and iTunes versions to prepare customers for the end-of-year shopping season.  This year, we also expect significant price cuts across the iPod lineup.

U.S. retail chain Best Buy Co. has announced that it will start selling the Apple iPhone 3G on Sunday September 7.  Best Buy is the first U.S. retail chain authorized to sell the device outside of Apple retail and AT&T stores.  Best Buy operates as a specialty retailer of consumer electronics and related merchandise.

Following several months of anticipation and widespread rumors, Apple announced "iPhone 3G" iPhone was during the Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference Keynote.  The new iPhone combines the revolutionary features of the iPhone with 3G networking that is twice as fast as the first generation iPhone.  It will be available for purchase on July 11, 2008.

The U.S. (and U.K.) online Apple Stores are currently sold out of the 8GB and 16GB iPhones showing a status of 'Currently Unavailable'.  This is interesting news as it may give more weight to the rumor we published on April 21, 2008 that Apple may release the 3G iPhone in May and then announce a new device at June's WWDC event.

Take that Michael Dell.  Following the close of the US Stock Market on Thursday May 1, 2008 the market cap of Apple is now four times that of Dell.  Apple is worth $158.66 billion vs Dell's measly $38.97 billion.

Expect to see more iPhone and iPod users at your local Starbucks in the very near future.  AT&T Inc. and Starbucks today announced the beginning of the rollout of AT&T Wi-Fi(SM) service at company-operated Starbucks stores, kicking off a nationwide effort that will continue through 2008.

We don't usually publish rumors but when a classmate in my MBA program (who happens to have connections with several Apple reps) passed on an interesting tidbit of iPhone speculation this past weekend, I felt that it warranted publication.  He indicated that Apple will be announcing the 3G iPhone sometime in May and then a new product at WWDC 2008.

In an attempt to expand the iPhone user based, Apple has started to air new television commercial that highlights the popular Facebook social networking site running on the iPhone.  The advertisement first appeared on television on Tuesday February 5, 2008.

On Tuesday February 5, 2008 Apple introduced higher capacity iPhone and iPod touch models that double the storage space of the prior high-end models.  The new 16GB iPhone and 32GB iPod touch are now available for purchase from the Apple Store.

Bloomberg is reporting that AT&T Inc. CEO Randall Stephenson has stated that Apple will release an updated version of the iPhone next year that will be able to download content from the Internet at a faster rate.

Apple Inc. CEO Steve Jobs has posted an open letter on Apple's Hot News page indicating that Apple will be releasing a 3rd party Software Development Kit (SDK) for iPhone and iPod Touch third party applications.  The SDK is scheduled to be released in February 2008.

The Wall Street Journal is reporting that Apple CEO has written a letter to iPhone customers apologizing for the $200 price drop.  He personally received hundreds of emails from iPhone customers who voiced their feeling about the iPhone price drop two months after it went on sale.

At a special event at San Francisco's Moscone West called "The Beat Goes On", Apple Inc. CEO Steve Jobs unveiled revamped iPods with new features, colors, software, and a new version of iTunes that brings ringtone capability to the iPhone.  Overall the event marked the next stage in Apple's Digital lifestyle strategy and product roadmap.  The highlight of the event was the unveiling of the new iPod Touch, Apple's first touch screen iPod and a Wi-Fi version of the iTunes store specifically for the iPod Touch and iPhone.
