On Wednesday November 28, 2006, Apple sent a note thanking users for their help in testing Tiger Boot Camp beta, the free software provided by Apple that allows Intel based Macs boot both Mac OS X and Windows.  The note also contained a reminder that the trial ends on December 31, 2007.

Apple states, “With the introduction of Leopard, the Boot Camp Beta program has ended. The Boot Camp Beta software will expire on December 31, and Apple won’t offer further updates of Boot Camp Beta for Mac OS X Tiger,”

Boot Camp works by partitioning a hard drive into separate areas and allows the Windows operating system to be installed.  Boot Camp is now part of Mac OS X Leopard so if existing users would like to continue using the feature, they will need to upgrade to Leopard.  Apple ensures users of the beta that current Boot Camp Tiger partitions will continue to work after the beta trial end date.
