About This Mac
You can get some basic information about your Mac with to the Mac OS X "About This Mac" feature. You have the option to view detailed information as well.
Basic Information
The basic view provides details about the your the version of Mac OSX, Processors and Model, Memory, and the Starup Disk. You get to this by performing the following:


Just click on an item on the left to view details on the right. This information will be useful when you need support and/or would like specific information about the hardware and software on your Mac.
Updates
The basic view provides details about the your the version of Mac OSX, Processors and Model, Memory, and the Starup Disk. You get to this by performing the following:
- Click on the Blue Apple icon on the upper left corner of the screen
- Scroll down and select "About this Mac"

As you can see, the information is very easy to understand. It's a quick and easy way to check the version of Mac OS X that is currently running on your system.
Detailed View - System Profiler
You have the option to launch the Mac OS X Software Update utility or select the "More Info ..." button which launch the "System Profiler" utility.

Note that the image has been modified to hide some private information such as the computer name on the top two areas and the computer's Serial Number in the window on the right.
