Apple released Shake 4.1, an update to the professional and sophisticated 3D compositing, keying, image tracking and stabilization software.  The update brings support to Intel-based Macs.  Apple dropped the price by 80 percent from $2999 to $499.  Note that current owners of Shake 4 can crossgrade to Shake 4.1 for just $49 US.

Apple states the following on their Shake site:

"Shake 4.1, optimized to run on new Intel-based Macintosh computers, is now available at a price that will fit even tight production budgets. Used to create the world's most celebrated visual effects, Shake provides the only compositing software with a complete toolset for both single artists and visual effects facilities"

The lower price point should make it more cost effective for studios and special effects houses to make the switch.
