MacBook Pro the Fastest Notebook for Windows XP
Apple's new Intel based Macs have recently been hacked to allow native installations of both Mac OS X and Windows XP. Following this development, a post at Gearlog outlines recent benchmarks demonstrating that Apple's MacBook Pro runs Photoshop faster than Windows based notebooks.
The article states:
"The MacBook Pro is the fastest Core Duo laptop we've tested running the Photoshop scripts. It's faster than other laptops originally designed for Windows. "This bodes very well for the performance of an Intel-accelerated OS X Photoshop, when that finally appears."
It goes on to say:
"In other words, Apple makes fast Windows PCs."
You can view the article at gearlog.com In a prior post titled "Apple Intel and Increased Market Share" I gave the following views:
- The choice is now compelling for consumers, they can own a Mac capable of running both OS X and/or Windows. It's only a matter of time before owners develop a method to dual boot both operating systems on the new Macs.
- The new Macs will usher in a new wave of Switchers.
- I predict that Apple will gain significant market share on a percentage basis in 2006 whereas Microsoft will see a slight decline
My stance is that consumers will increasingly give Macs consideration when they make thier next computer purchase. Consumers can have a system that runs OS X and Windows.
