As with all Apple operating system updates, Mac OS X 10.4.8 contains all prior security updates for Tiger 10.4. Users have different options to update their systems, a Combo update or a Delta update. Furthermore, there are two methods to update to Mac OS X 10.4.8. One is by using the Software Update utility in Mac OS X, the second is to download the standalone installer. Only one the two methods is needed to update your Mac.
Intel Macs
PowerPC Macs
Users will be quick to notice the size variance between the Intel and PowerPC builds. Be sure to read the Delta update document (link above) for a detailed list of updates.
Security Update 2006-006
Apple also released Security Update 2006-006 for Mac OS X 10.3.9 Panther. The update improves security for:
- CFNetwork
- Cyrus SASL
- Flash Player Plug-in
- QuickDraw
- WebKit
