Apple now worth $158.66 Billion - 4 times as much as Dell

Take that Michael Dell.  Following the close of the US Stock Market on Thursday May 1, 2008 the market cap of Apple is now four times that of Dell.  Apple is worth $158.66 billion vs Dell's measly $38.97 billion.

AT&T and Starbucks Begin Nationwide Wi-Fi Rollout - Apple to benefit

Expect to see more iPhone and iPod users at your local Starbucks in the very near future.  AT&T Inc. and Starbucks today announced the beginning of the rollout of AT&T Wi-Fi(SM) service at company-operated Starbucks stores, kicking off a nationwide effort that will continue through 2008.

Apple releases 16GB iPhone and 32GB iPod Touch

On Tuesday February 5, 2008 Apple introduced higher capacity iPhone and iPod touch models that double the storage space of the prior high-end models.  The new 16GB iPhone and 32GB iPod touch are now available for purchase from the Apple Store.

Apple announces upcoming SDK for iPhone and iPod Touch

Apple Inc. CEO Steve Jobs has posted an open letter on Apple's Hot News page indicating that Apple will be releasing a 3rd party Software Development Kit (SDK) for iPhone and iPod Touch third party applications.  The SDK is scheduled to be released in February 2008.

At a special event at San Francisco's Moscone West called "The Beat Goes On", Apple Inc. CEO Steve Jobs unveiled revamped iPods with new features, colors, software, and a new version of iTunes that brings ringtone capability to the iPhone.  Overall the event marked the next stage in Apple's Digital lifestyle strategy and product roadmap.  The highlight of the event was the unveiling of the new iPod Touch, Apple's first touch screen iPod and a Wi-Fi version of the iTunes store specifically for the iPod Touch and iPhone.

New iPods tomorrow? - not eligible under the 2007 Back To School Promotion

Ok so you're a student thinking about buying a Mac and want a free iPod (nano or up to $199 back towards another model) thanks to the 2007 Back To School Promotion.  You're also paying attention to the buzz about potential iPod updates tomorrow.  According to the Terms and Conditions of the rebate form, only existing iPods will be eligible for the rebate, new models won't be offered for the promotion.

Apple Revamps iPod Line - iTunes 7 - Movies Added - Announces Future Set Top Box

At its special media event on Tuesday September 12, 2006 termed "It's Showtime", Apple Computer's CEO Steve Jobs unveiled revamped iPods with new features and software, a new version of iTunes that lets users purchase music, music videos, television shows and at last, movies.  The company also announced that it will be releasing a Mac mini like set top box codenamed "iTV" that is slated for release in the first quarter of 2007.  The event was conducted at San Francisco's Yerba Buena Center for the Arts Theater.  The event marked the next step in Apple's Digital Lifestyle strategy and product roadmap.

Apple has released and update that upgrades iTunes to version 6.0.5.  Apple states the following:

Apple has added a new feature to the iTunes Music Store.  A new area has been established that allows the purchase of a Music/Video combo for $2.49 US or either a song for $0.99 US or its video for $1.99 US.  When purchased as a combo, you can save $0.50.

Apple and Softbank to Develop iPod Cell Phone

News is just hitting the wires that Apple and Softbank will work together (or are currently working together) to develop an iPod based cell phone.

My view is that a single device that can work as both a cell phone and an iPod will drive iPod adoption because people will prefer to carry around a single device.  Greater iPod adoption will drive more sales at the iTunes Music Store and it should add more momentum to the "Halo Effect".  All in all, increased Mac adoption should result.

Apple has added 16 series from News Corp.'s Fox television network to the iTunes Music Store, specifically content from FOX, FX, SPEED, FUEL TV and 20th Century Fox Television.

Some of the 16 series include: "24," "Prison Break", "The Shield", "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia", "Stacked", "Black White", "30 Days", "Buffy the Vampire Slayer", "Firefly", "Lost in Space", "Pinks", "Unique Whips", and "First Hand."
