In his July 25, 2010 article at the San Jose Mercury News, John Boudreau, highlights that the Mac, despite all the buzz and attention given to Apple's iPhone and iPad, is still a key contributor to Apple's business.  The article highlights Mac sales data recently reported by Apple in their Q3 2010 earnings report.

In a July 24, 2010 slideshow at InformationWeek, Thomas Claburn states, "We picked ten worthy Mac applications, that are tops here and now."  Noting that much of the hype these days is centered around Internet-based applications, InformationWeek takes the position that "there's still a lot of great software to be downloaded and installed."

In a July 21, 2010 article at The Register, Rik Myslewski demonstrates that Apple Mac sales have tripled in five years.  The article not only includes statements from Apple executive underlying the growth but also graphics that highlight the growth.

On July 20, 2010, Apple Inc. released fiscal 2010 third quarter that ended on June 26, 2010. Apple posted record revenue of $15.7 billion and net quarterly profit of $3.25 billion, or $3.51 per diluted share. These results compare to revenue of $9.73 billion and net quarterly profit of $1.83 billion, or $2.01 per diluted share, in the year-ago quarter. Gross margin was 39.1 percent compared to 40.9 percent in the year-ago quarter. International sales accounted for 52 percent of the quarter's revenue.

In an article posted to CIO.com, Tom Kaneshige highlights a newly released survey from Enterprise Desktop Alliance that 'Macs were cheaper in six of seven computer management categories.'

As we enter a new calendar year why not start off with a post that focuses on the Mac for the upcoming year?  Apple's Macintosh (Mac) line of computers have experienced phenomenal growth over the past several years and this trend is likely to accelerate in 2010.

A CNet article on December 4, 2009 highlights a NPD Group report which details that Apple's Macintosh computers grabbed the top spot in both the desktop and notebook categories.

Philip Elmer-DeWitt, in a blog post on Fortune, highlights interesting Apple Mac growth analysis put forth by Charles Wolf, a Needham & Co.'s senior analyst.  The analysis explains how Apple's recent Mac growth was seven times the growth rate of the overall PC market.

On Monday August 17, 2009 Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster suggested that Apple will sell upwards of 2.8 million Macs in the current fiscal quarter (Q4 2009), a period that covers July, August, and September.

A June 12, 2009 CNNMoney.com article titled 'Can Windows 7 save PCs?", David Goldman writes about Microsoft's upcoming Windows 7 operating system.    The article discusses the PC slump and highlights a March survey conducted by Dimension Research that indicates that 50% of respondents are likely to dump Windows in favor of Apple's Mac OS X operating system.
