In a July 24, 2010 slideshow at InformationWeek, Thomas Claburn states, "We picked ten worthy Mac applications, that are tops here and now."  Noting that much of the hype these days is centered around Internet-based applications, InformationWeek takes the position that "there's still a lot of great software to be downloaded and installed."

On July 20, 2010, Apple Inc. released fiscal 2010 third quarter that ended on June 26, 2010. Apple posted record revenue of $15.7 billion and net quarterly profit of $3.25 billion, or $3.51 per diluted share. These results compare to revenue of $9.73 billion and net quarterly profit of $1.83 billion, or $2.01 per diluted share, in the year-ago quarter. Gross margin was 39.1 percent compared to 40.9 percent in the year-ago quarter. International sales accounted for 52 percent of the quarter's revenue.

A June 12, 2009 CNNMoney.com article titled 'Can Windows 7 save PCs?", David Goldman writes about Microsoft's upcoming Windows 7 operating system.    The article discusses the PC slump and highlights a March survey conducted by Dimension Research that indicates that 50% of respondents are likely to dump Windows in favor of Apple's Mac OS X operating system.
