Apple announced this morning that CEO Steve Jobs and other Apple executives will take the wraps off of Apple's next generation software during the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) Keynote address next Monday in San Francisco.  Specifically, Apple will introduce Mac OS X 10.7 Lion, iOS 5, and unveil their upcoming cloud service platform, iCloud.

On Thursday May 26, 2011 Amazon unveiled a software download service for Mac users.  The service competes with Apple's own 'Mac App Store' currently available on Macs running Mac OS X Snow Leopard.

In a May 22, 2011 article posted at Fortune, Philip Elmer-DeWitt highlights  Charles Wolf's (Needham & Company) analysis of the Mac's striking growth.  Wolf's note, titled, "What a Streak", uses a series of data and charts sourced from IDC data to demonstrate how Mac sales growth outpaced Windows PC growth in the first three months of 2011.

AppleInsider has posted a story sourced from Charlie Wolf, an analyst from Needham & Company that "Mac sales in the enterprise during Apple's last fiscal quarter grew a whopping 66 percent, significantly outpacing the rest of the PC market, which grew just 4.5 percent in the enterprise."
